Customer Requirements
The owner wanted to upgrade the Fiesta with competition seats and racing harnesses to improve driver support during track days.
However, unlike a dedicated race car, this vehicle was driven by more than one person and was also used on public roads.
The installation therefore needed to:
- Allow the seats to be adjusted for different drivers.
- Retain the original seat belts for normal road use.
- Provide secure mounting points for the racing harnesses.
- Maintain a clean, practical and professional finish.
Work Carried Out
We began by installing a pair of competition race seats.
Unlike many race cars, where seats are permanently fixed in one position, these seats were mounted on adjustable runners. This allows the driving position to be quickly altered, making the car suitable for multiple drivers without compromising the secure mounting of the seats.
We then installed competition racing harnesses to provide increased driver support during track use.
Because the vehicle is also driven on the road, using harnesses all the time would not be practical. To overcome this, we designed and fabricated bespoke mounting brackets that allow the original factory seat belts to remain fully functional.
This gives the owner the flexibility to use the standard seat belts during everyday driving and switch to the racing harnesses for track events.
To complete the installation, we fitted a rear strut brace which serves two important functions.
Firstly, it increases chassis rigidity by connecting the rear suspension mounting points, helping to reduce chassis flex during hard cornering.
Secondly, it provides a strong and secure mounting location for the shoulder straps of the racing harnesses, creating a neat and integrated installation.
Why It Matters
The best track day cars are often those that balance performance with practicality.
By retaining the original seat belts alongside the racing harnesses, the owner benefits from the convenience and comfort of the factory restraint system for everyday driving while still enjoying the support and security of competition harnesses on circuit.
The addition of adjustable seat runners also makes the vehicle far more versatile, allowing different drivers to quickly achieve a comfortable and safe driving position without compromising the quality of the installation.
Combined with the increased chassis stiffness provided by the rear strut brace, the completed package enhances both driver confidence and the overall driving experience.

The finished installation delivers exactly what the customer was looking for—a track-focused interior that remains practical for regular road use.
The Fiesta now benefits from:
