Project Overview
Suspension setup is about much more than simply adjusting wheel alignment. Sometimes the process identifies mechanical limitations that prevent a vehicle from achieving its full potential.
This beautifully built aluminium-bodied 1965 Porsche Spyder came to Kent Motorsport for a complete suspension alignment and chassis setup. During the initial assessment, we optimised the geometry as far as the existing components would allow before identifying an opportunity to further improve the car’s handling.
The result was a two-stage project that transformed the vehicle’s chassis performance.
Caterham Seven Chassis Setup – Suspension Upgrades, Corner Weighting & Geometry

The Caterham Seven has earned a reputation as one of the finest handling sports cars ever built. Lightweight, responsive and incredibly rewarding to drive, it offers an outstanding platform for both road and track use.
However, even a car with such excellent chassis characteristics can be improved when its suspension is professionally set up for the individual driver and the way the car is used.
This Caterham Seven came to Kent Motorsport following the installation of new suspension components, with the owner looking to unlock the full potential of the upgrades and maximise the car’s performance on track.
VW Cup Race Car – Diagnosing & Solving a Chassis Handling Problem
Project Overview
When a race car feels unpredictable on track, the temptation is often to replace parts in the hope of finding a solution. In reality, many handling problems can be traced to incorrect suspension geometry rather than faulty components.
This VW Cup race car came to Kent Motorsport after the drivers reported that it felt nervous and unsettled during high-speed driving. Our task was to investigate the problem, identify the underlying cause and optimise the chassis setup to restore driver confidence.

In motorsport, every component of a race car contributes to performance—but few have as much influence on driver confidence as the suspension setup.
A well-balanced chassis allows the driver to brake later, carry more speed through the corners and consistently exploit the full potential of the car.
Kent Motorsport was entrusted with the suspension setup of two Honda Civic race cars that had been rebuilt and prepared by Snodhurst Garage for competition in the Classic & Modern Motorsport Club (CMMC) Southern Saloon Car Series.
Our objective was simple: develop suspension settings that would allow both drivers to get the very best from their cars on one of the UK’s most demanding circuits.

A Porsche is renowned for its precise steering, balanced handling and driver confidence. When those characteristics disappear, even an exceptional sports car can become frustrating and tiring to drive.
This Porsche Roadster came to Kent Motorsport after its owner became increasingly concerned about the way the car behaved on the road. Instead of feeling stable and confidence inspiring, the car wandered unpredictably and required constant steering corrections, making it difficult to enjoy.
Our task was to identify the cause of the problem and restore the handling characteristics the car was designed to deliver.
Jaguar Mk2 Suspension Setup – Restoring the Handling of a Classic Saloon
Project Overview
Classic cars should be enjoyable to drive. When the steering feels nervous or the suspension geometry is incorrect, even the most iconic vehicles can lose the confidence-inspiring handling that made them so special.
This beautifully maintained Jaguar Mk2 was brought to Kent Motorsport after the owner experienced two frustrating problems. The steering felt unsettled when cornering, particularly on right-hand bends, and the front wheels were rubbing on full steering lock.
Our task was to identify the underlying cause and restore the car’s handling without unnecessary modifications or replacement parts.
Lotus Exige Sprint Car – Chassis Development & Suspension Setup

In competitive motorsport, the difference between a good car and a great car is often found in the finer details of chassis setup.
Even when a vehicle is already performing well, careful adjustments to weight distribution and suspension geometry can improve balance, increase driver confidence and unlock valuable performance on track.
This Lotus Exige sprint car came to Kent Motorsport for professional chassis optimisation ahead of competition in the Tunbridge Wells Motor Club (TWMC) All Circuit Championship.
Mini Cooper S R53 – Suspension Setup After Performance Suspension Upgrade
Project Overview
Upgrading a car’s suspension is one of the most popular modifications for track day enthusiasts. However, fitting high-quality components is only part of the process.
Without professional corner weighting and suspension geometry, even the best suspension upgrades can leave a car handling worse than before.
This Mini Cooper S R53 was referred to Kent Motorsport after receiving new suspension struts and springs. Although the new components should have improved the car’s performance, the owner found it handled poorly on track and was suffering from excessive wear and overheating of the rear left tyre.
Our job was to identify why the new suspension wasn’t delivering the expected results and develop a chassis setup that allowed the car to perform as intended.
